Sunni and Antonio’s love story begins on a fall day in October 2011. Their mutual friend, Alcina, who turns out to be a match-maker, sets them up on a blind date. Their first date is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at a Thai restaurant, which unbeknownst to Antonio is Sunni’s favorite cuisine.
This love connection almost doesn’t happen, as Antonio is 20 minutes late for their dinner after returning home to get his wallet. Sunni, a punctual person, is prepared to leave after waiting 10 additional minutes, but Alcina prods her to stay.
Thankfully, the two meet. Their first date turns into a second; the second date turns into a third and blossoms into four years of fun-filled dating.
In their four years together, Antonio travels to Sunni’s hometown of Denver, Colorado and Sunni travels to Antonio’s native country of Trinidad and Tobago. Their travels also take them to London, Mexico, and Jamaica.
After months of planning, Antonio flies to Denver, Colorado to ask Sunni’s family for their blessing, and on August 23, 2015, their relationship is taken to new heights in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, when the two have a romantic, tiki-lit dinner, on a scenic, beach, and Antonio asks Sunni for her hand in marriage. Sunni says yes! So begins their journey to #BecomingTheDorsets.
Sunni and Antonio’s love story is proof that opposites really do attract, and lovers can be best friends.
When asked what they love about each other, this is what the two had to say, “I love Sunni because she makes me happy, and she is kind-hearted and determined. She also has strong morals, and I know she'll be a great mom one day.”
“I love Antonio because he always does what he says he’s going to do; he’s very protective of us, and I know there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for me.”
This beautiful, fun-loving couple are looking forward to saying, “I do” with family and friends in attendance. As one of their guests, you can look forward to a celebratory, wedding weekend!
